Gabion works may serve retaining, erosion protection and channel applications. Wall stability, scour, bearing, drainage and any hydraulic design require project-specific engineering.
Woven baskets, welded baskets and river mattresses are different selections. Basket dimensions alone do not establish interchangeability.
What the installation scope can include
The agreed scope can include basket supply, delivery, assembly, positioning, lacing or approved connections, internal bracing, stone placement and closure. State whether foundation preparation, excavation, filter layers, stone supply and plant are included.
The sequence must preserve line, level, connections and the intended structural arrangement.
Approve materials and site readiness
Provide drawings, mesh and coating requirements, stone grading, filter specification and foundation acceptance criteria. Plan access, working space, lifting and any temporary water control.
Stone durability, grading and placement must meet the approved specification. A visually filled basket is not sufficient evidence of conformity.
Quality records and handover
Inspect basket identity and condition, foundation and filters, alignment, connections, bracing, stone placement and closure before progressing. Record approved repairs and deviations.
Handover identifies installed quantities, as-built geometry and the agreed material and inspection records.
