TechGrid TGU Uniaxial Geogrids
TechGrid TGU uses coated high-tenacity polyester yarns to reinforce designed soil structures. We supply and install the geogrid for retaining walls, reinforced slopes and embankments, with delivery quantities matched to the reinforcement layout.

Product description and supply
TechGrid TGU is a polymer-coated, knitted high-tenacity polyester geogrid with its principal reinforcement strength in the machine direction. Grades from TGU-40 through TGU-600 provide different published strength levels; cross-direction strength and long-term design data remain grade-specific.
Geosynthetics South Africa supplies the TGU range with grade-specific documentation, roll scheduling and delivery planning. The technical submission and quotation identify the reinforcement, quantities and any agreed placement and QA/QC scope.

Ultimate tensile values are published to EN ISO 10319, with the source sheets describing an average (typical) reporting basis. They are not long-term design strengths. Roll area for 5.1 m × 100 m is 510 m². Confirm the revision and delivered roll format with the quotation.
Applications
TechGrid TGU may be specified as tensile reinforcement in engineered soil structures, including retaining walls, reinforced slopes and embankments over weak ground. The designer determines reinforcement length, vertical spacing, orientation, fill and connections.
A wide-width roll does not eliminate facing or anchorage design. Grade changes must be checked against the approved calculation and supporting product data.
Supply matched to the construction schedule
Send the reinforcement schedule by grade and layer, required roll quantities, delivery dates and site access requirements. Allow for cutting, return lengths, overlaps where permitted and construction sequencing.
Our quotation can cover materials, delivery and an agreed placement and QA/QC scope. Obtain approval for the exact reinforcement and facing combination before manufacture or installation of the wall system proceeds.
Why choose TechGrid TGU Uniaxial Geogrids?
- High-tenacity polyester reinforcement
- Grade options for designed soil structures
- Supply and installation to the reinforcement plan
Installation and technical guidance
Installation and QA/QC
Check roll labels and delivery condition, lay the primary strength direction as designed and maintain the specified reinforcement length. Avoid folds, damage and unapproved joints in the load-carrying direction.
Use the product-specific installation procedure for fill placement, compaction and traffic restrictions. Record reinforcement levels, lengths, connections, fill acceptance and any repairs before the layer is covered.
Specification and quotation inputs
| Item | Confirm for this project |
|---|---|
| Design | Wall or embankment geometry, loading, ground conditions and design life. |
| Product | TGU grade, tensile reporting basis and long-term design data. |
| Interfaces | Facing connection, fill interaction, drainage and reinforcement orientation. |
| Procurement | Grade-by-grade quantities, roll schedule and delivery sequence. |
| QA/QC | Traceability, placement inspections, fill tests and as-built layer records. |
Match the exact supplied grade to current documentation and the approved project specification. Product availability and lead time are confirmed with the quotation.
Questions engineers and contractors ask
Is TGU-40 a 40/40 biaxial grid?
No. The published TGU-40 schedule lists different strengths in the machine and cross directions. The additional biaxial 40/40 product is a separate selection.
Are all TGU design reductions identical?
Use the exact grade and document revision. Values depend on the stated environment and testing basis; do not transfer a reduction factor or design strength from another grade.
Can you supply all nine grades?
Yes. The range is available for project supply. Confirm the grade, quantity, manufacturing documentation, availability and delivery programme in the quotation.
Choose the scope you need
Supply only; manufacture or fabrication; supply and delivery; or supply with a defined installation and QA/QC scope. The quotation identifies materials, responsibilities, testing and the required handover records.
Design and procurement inputs
Specify long-term design strength, creep and durability reductions, installation damage, soil interaction, orientation and connection requirements for the design life.
Provide the product grade or performance specification, drawings or BOQ, quantities, site location and required date. We will define supply, delivery and any agreed installation and QA/QC responsibilities in the quotation.
