MIRAFI F Filtration Geotextiles
MIRAFI F combines a filtration layer with a protective layer for demanding drainage and erosion-protection applications. We supply and install the geotextile around drains and beneath the specified protective layers.
Product description and supply
MIRAFI F combines two mechanically bonded continuous-filament polypropylene layers. One performs the filtering role; the other helps protect that filter against damage. The construction provides a defined material system with grade-specific hydraulic and mechanical properties.
Geosynthetics South Africa supplies the selected F-series grade with current supporting documentation and traceability. Product supply, delivery and agreed installation or inspection support can be coordinated through one enquiry.
Two functional layers in one geotextile
The construction separates the filtering role from the protection of the filter layer. The engineering submission identifies the actual grade and its hydraulic and mechanical properties.
F60, F70 and F80 have different published properties. The grade designation is not the fabric mass: the current manufacturer schedule identifies masses of 400, 600 and 800 g/m² respectively.

Applications
Use MIRAFI F for specified soil-filtration and drainage interfaces in civil, water and environmental works. Its filter layer passes water while retaining the design soil; the second layer helps protect the filter. Selection depends on soil grading, hydraulic conditions, contact layers and construction loads.

Send the grade or required filter criteria, area, roll plan, drainage details, location and installation programme. The quotation can cover materials, delivery and a defined placement and inspection scope.
Record roll identity, prepared surfaces, placement, joints, penetrations and damage repairs. Inspect the filter continuity and drainage connections before covering.
Plan long-term filtration performance
For 100+ year design requirements, request the chosen grade’s applicable durability declaration and assess its stated environmental and exposure limits. Filtration compatibility and clogging performance also require review for the actual soil and water conditions.
Coordinate the geotextile, drainage core or aggregate, collection pipes and outlets as one system.

Questions engineers and contractors ask
Does F60 mean a 600 g/m² fabric?
No. In the manufacturer schedule reviewed for this page, F60 is 400 g/m², F70 is 600 g/m² and F80 is 800 g/m². Confirm the current supplied-grade sheet.
Can MIRAFI F replace any filter fabric?
Only where it meets the specified retention, hydraulic, mechanical and durability requirements and the substitution is approved.

Supply only; manufacture or fabrication; supply and delivery; or supply with a defined installation and QA/QC scope. The quotation identifies materials, responsibilities, testing and the required handover records.
Design and procurement inputs
Select opening size, permeability, strength and installation survivability against the soil grading, hydraulic conditions and construction loads. Mass per unit area alone does not establish suitability.
