GeoDrain Green Roof and Podium Drainage
GeoDrain roof and podium systems manage drainage beneath planting and landscaped decks. We supply the drainage boards and filter layers and install them with the required waterproofing protection and outlet details.

Product description and supply
GeoDrain green-roof systems use a formed drainage core to convey excess water and, where specified, retain water within the designed roof build-up. The filter, core and storage function are selected as components of the complete planted-roof assembly.
Geosynthetics South Africa supplies the specified board and geotextile arrangement with supporting product data and delivery planning. Waterproofing, root protection, drainage outlets and installation responsibilities are coordinated with the roof design.
Select the filter and core separately
Specify whether the project requires a bare core with a separate filter or a geotextile-faced construction. TYPAR geotextile is an available filtration option to be identified by grade and arrangement. Do not assume a civil drainage configuration and a water-storage roof board are interchangeable.
A complete roof assembly
Coordinate waterproofing, root resistance or root barrier, protection, drainage, filtration, growing medium, planting and accessible outlets. Drainage board alone is neither the waterproofing membrane nor a certified root barrier. The structural designer must consider saturated roof loads and maintenance loads.
Applications and uses
We supply and install this product for:
- Drainage and water management beneath planted roofs and podium landscaping.
- Separation of growing media from the drainage layer using a compatible filter.
Why choose GeoDrain Green Roof and Podium Drainage?
- Drainage beneath landscaped decks
- Filter and water-management configurations
- Supply and coordinated installation
Installation and technical guidance
Installation and QA/QC
Agree orientation, continuity of the filter, joints, edge restraints, penetrations and roof-drain connections. Inspect the waterproofing before covering, protect it during placement and keep outlets accessible. Record product identity, layout, protection, repairs and inspection hold points.
Specification and quotation inputs
| Item | Confirm for this project |
|---|---|
| Roof design | Slope, area, rainfall, discharge restrictions and outlet layout. |
| Loading | Saturated growing medium, storage, maintenance and construction loads. |
| Board | Drainage or drainage-plus-storage function, exact grade and test data. |
| Filter | Soil retention, water passage, TYPAR grade where specified and joint details. |
| Interfaces | Waterproofing compatibility, root barrier, protection and outlet inspection access. |
Match the exact supplied grade to current documentation and the approved project specification. Product availability and lead time are confirmed with the quotation.
Questions engineers and contractors ask
Does a green roof board replace waterproofing?
No. Waterproofing and any required root barrier remain separately designed layers.
Can the TYPAR option be specified?
Yes. State the required TYPAR filter construction in the enquiry so the exact grade and assembly can be confirmed with supporting data.
Choose the scope you need
Supply only; manufacture or fabrication; supply and delivery; or supply with a defined installation and QA/QC scope. The quotation identifies materials, responsibilities, testing and the required handover records.
Design and procurement inputs
Coordinate drainage capacity, water retention where required, root resistance, waterproofing protection, imposed loads and outlet access with the roof-system design.
Provide the product grade or performance specification, drawings or BOQ, quantities, site location and required date. We will define supply, delivery and any agreed installation and QA/QC responsibilities in the quotation.
