GEOSYNTHETICS SOUTH AFRICA

GGA Glass Asphalt Geogrids

Geosynthetics South Africa supplies and installs GGA Glass Asphalt Geogrids across South Africa and Southern Africa.

GGA glass-fibre geogrids reinforce asphalt overlays and help manage reflective cracking in a designed pavement system. We supply and install the grid at the specified interface, with surface preparation and bonding coordinated with the paving works.

GGA Glass Asphalt Geogrids

Product description and supply

A glass geogrid is a reinforcing mesh selected for integration within a designed asphalt overlay system. Its reinforcing function differs from that of a binder-saturated paving fabric, and performance depends on the pavement build-up and bond at the interface.

Geosynthetics South Africa supplies the listed GGA products with grade identification, current supporting data and delivery planning. Installation support and QA/QC responsibilities can be included in the agreed scope.

Select the listed GGA product

Our existing catalogue includes GGA 50 SA, GGA 100 SA and GGA 200 SA self-adhesive glass geogrids. The product names and existing catalogue pages remain the reference for ordering.

Request the current grade-specific datasheet, test methods, declared values and installation instructions with the material submission. Do not infer design strength, adhesive performance or temperature limits from the grade number alone.

Applications and uses

We supply and install this product for:

  • Asphalt overlay systems for designed management of reflective cracking.
  • Road rehabilitation at suitable pavement interfaces.

Why choose GGA Glass Asphalt Geogrids?

Installation and technical guidance

Installation and QA/QC

The pavement engineer should assess the underlying structure and identify crack repair, local reconstruction, levelling and surface preparation before the interlayer is placed.

Bonding arrangements depend on the selected product and pavement design. Self-adhesive backing should not be assumed to eliminate a specified tack coat. Agree the substrate condition, tack-coat type and rate, laps, paving temperature and construction traffic restrictions with the supplier and engineer.

Inspect product identity, roll condition, prepared surface, grid placement, overlaps, wrinkles and bond before asphalt placement. Coordinate deliveries with the paving area so rolls are protected and crews can work within the approved installation window.

Retain delivery and roll records, placement photographs, weather and surface-condition checks, and the pavement acceptance tests required by the contract. An interlayer cannot compensate for unresolved structural pavement failure.

Questions engineers and contractors ask

Is a self-adhesive grid a replacement for tack coat?

Follow the exact product instructions and approved pavement design. Adhesive backing and interlayer bonding are not automatically the same requirement.

Can a glass grid repair a failed road foundation?

It is an asphalt interlayer. The pavement engineer must first address structural failure, inadequate support, water damage or other causes requiring reconstruction.

Can I substitute a soil-reinforcement grid?

No substitution should be based on a generic strength comparison. Asphalt reinforcement, aggregate stabilisation and reinforced-soil applications require different product and design assessments.

Choose the scope you need

Supply only; manufacture or fabrication; supply and delivery; or supply with a defined installation and QA/QC scope. The quotation identifies materials, responsibilities, testing and the required handover records.

Design and procurement inputs

Glass reinforcement grids and bitumen-saturated paving fabrics are different interlayer systems. Follow the selected product’s requirements for surface preparation, bond coat, installation temperature and overlay thickness.

Provide the product grade or performance specification, drawings or BOQ, quantities, site location and required date. We will define supply, delivery and any agreed installation and QA/QC responsibilities in the quotation.
