GEOSYNTHETICS SOUTH AFRICA

MIRAFI Separation Geotextiles

Geosynthetics South Africa supplies and installs MIRAFI Separation Geotextiles across South Africa and Southern Africa.

MIRAFI separation geotextiles help keep aggregate and subgrade soils apart while allowing water movement through the fabric. We supply and install the selected grade beneath roads, rail formations and other civil works.

  • Separation of aggregate and subgrade
  • Water movement through a permeable fabric
  • Practical supply and installation support

Product description and supply

MIRAFI S is a mechanically bonded continuous-filament nonwoven made from virgin UV-stabilised polypropylene. Its engineered fabric structure provides the mechanical and hydraulic properties used to specify separation and filtration functions within civil construction.

Geosynthetics South Africa supplies the selected S-series grade, supporting technical data and material identification. Quantities, roll requirements, delivery and any installation and QA/QC scope are aligned to the project specification.

Compare the exact S-series grade

The range includes S21, S31, S32, S41, S42, S51, S61, S72 and S82. Select the designation required by the engineer rather than treating all S-series fabrics as interchangeable.

Compare relevant tensile, puncture, opening-size and water-passage properties, with the stated test methods and reporting basis. Use the current grade documentation for procurement and approval.

Specify virgin material and long-term performance

Identify virgin polypropylene and continuous-filament construction in the material submission alongside the required performance criteria and traceability. This establishes the supplied product without relying on generic material descriptions.

For 100+ year design requirements, verify the selected grade’s durability documentation and applicable environmental limits. Installation exposure, ground chemistry and operating conditions must match the accepted design assumptions.

Applications and uses

We supply and install this product for:

  • Separation between soil and aggregate in roads, rail formation and working areas.
  • Filtration around subsoil drains and beneath designed erosion-protection layers.
  • Drainage and civil infrastructure where soil retention and water transmission are specified.

Installation and technical guidance

Installation and QA/QC

Send the grade or specification, area, roll requirements, site and programme. Supply, delivery and installation can be scoped together or separately.

Inspect roll identity, surface preparation, placement, joints and construction damage before cover placement. Confirm aggregate handling and cover requirements using the accepted product procedure.

Specification and quotation inputs

ItemConfirm for this project
FunctionSeparation, filtration or both within the proposed construction.
Ground and loadingSoil information, aggregate, construction traffic and design conditions.
Grade approvalExact S-series designation, test methods, reporting basis and durability.
QuotationArea, roll schedule, location, dates and installation responsibilities.

Match the exact supplied grade to current documentation and the approved project specification. Product availability and lead time are confirmed with the quotation.

Questions engineers and contractors ask

Can I select only by fabric mass?

Mass helps identify a product but does not replace the required mechanical, hydraulic and durability criteria.

Can you match an engineer’s geotextile specification?

Send the performance schedule, required grade and application. Our technical submission identifies the proposed material and supporting documentation for review.

Choose the scope you need

Supply only; manufacture or fabrication; supply and delivery; or supply with a defined installation and QA/QC scope. The quotation identifies materials, responsibilities, testing and the required handover records.

Design and procurement inputs

Select opening size, permeability, strength and installation survivability against the soil grading, hydraulic conditions and construction loads. Mass per unit area alone does not establish suitability.

Provide the product grade or performance specification, drawings or BOQ, quantities, site location and required date. We will define supply, delivery and any agreed installation and QA/QC responsibilities in the quotation.
