We supply GGA 200 SA - Glass Geogrid Asphalt Reinforcement (2.0m × 50m Roll). Send us your quantity and delivery location for a quotation, and ask our team to include installation where your project requires it.

GGA 200 SA is a self-adhesive glass-fibre geogrid installed between pavement layers for asphalt reinforcement. It helps distribute stresses and delay reflective cracking from the underlying pavement into the new overlay. Supplied in 2 m x 50 m rolls for road rehabilitation and specified new asphalt works.

Description

Some pavement problems are not “general cracking”-they are concentrated stress conditions: joints telegraphing through overlays, transitions between rigid and flexible structures, bridge approaches, localised deformation, and repetitive turning/braking at intersections. GGA 200 SA - Self-Adhesive Glass Geogrid Asphalt Reinforcement is designed specifically for these higher-risk reinforcement zones.

GGA 200 SA uses a self-adhesive glass fibre geogrid with a tighter aperture configuration and asymmetric tensile strength (higher capacity in the principal direction). This makes it a practical specification choice for applications where stress is directional or where reinforcement requirements exceed standard 50/50 or 100/100 grid classes.

Installed as an asphalt interlayer, GGA 200 SA functions by intercepting tensile stresses within the asphalt and spreading them laterally. This reduces crack opening, delays crack reflection, and improves fatigue performance-especially across joints and discontinuities. The self-adhesive coating provides placement stability during construction, helping installers maintain alignment and overlap control in high-production environments.

Talk to us if your applications require heavy duty asphalt reinforcement geogrid, self adhesive glass grid for joints, bridge approach crack control, pavement joint reinforcement, reflective crack control at transitions, and 100/200 glass geogrid.

Where GGA 200 SA is typically specified

  • Reinforcing overlays over rigid pavement joints

  • Bridge approaches and transition zones

  • Localised severe cracking areas before resurfacing

  • Intersections, roundabouts, and braking zones

  • Repairs where reinforcement must be stronger in one direction

Why the tighter grid matters

The smaller aperture is commonly chosen where cracks are closely spaced or where reinforcement needs to engage the asphalt more frequently. Combined with high tensile capacity, it supports performance in demanding reinforcement zones.

Installation principles

As with all asphalt interlayers, good outcomes require correct substrate preparation, tack coat practice, smooth placement, and proper rolling/compaction controls. Any reinforcement grid can be compromised by contamination or poor bonding-so quality installation is part of the specification intent.

If your project includes joints, transitions, or severe cracking, and you want a heavy-duty reinforcement class with clear specification identity, GGA 200 SA is the correct product to list and to price.

Supply, delivery and installation across Africa

Geosynthetics South Africa undertakes projects through three service options:

  • Supply only - products supplied to the agreed specification.
  • Supply and delivery - materials and logistics coordinated to your project site.
  • Supply, delivery and QA/QC-controlled installation - one coordinated scope from procurement to documented handover.

For projects across Africa, we coordinate with the Geosynthetics Africa Group to mobilise installation crews from group companies across the continent. Materials, delivery, mobilisation and project-specific quality records are agreed as part of the project scope.

Supply, delivery & installation

South African supply

We are the South African supplier of glass geogrids and paving-fabric interlayers. We have ready stock of standard grades and formats for South African projects.

Delivery & cross-border supply

We supply glass geogrids and paving-fabric interlayers across South Africa and Southern Africa, including cross-border delivery. We coordinate site access, unloading and cross-border documentation for your order.

How we install

We install glass geogrids and paving-fabric interlayers. Clean and repair the existing pavement and confirm a dry, prepared surface. Apply the specified tack coat and lay the selected interlayer flat, with the required overlaps and joints. Place the asphalt overlay without displacing or folding the reinforcement.

Specialist installation supported by Geosynthetics Africa (Pty) Ltd, an IAGI Installer Member.

SELECTION · SPECIFICATION · PROJECT SUPPLY

Choose the right specification

Select asphalt reinforcement for the existing pavement condition, cracking mechanism and proposed overlay design.

  • Confirm the exact glass grid or paving interlayer and its intended role in the asphalt system.
  • Assess pavement repairs, substrate preparation, bond or tack-coat requirements and overlay construction.
  • Use the supplied product’s installation procedure for joints, temperature, trafficking and paving sequence.

Define the quality records

Record product identity, accepted pavement surface, bond preparation, placement, joints, damage repairs and overlay placement.

For a useful quotation: send the grade or performance specification, quantity, location, required date and scope. Availability, delivery and installation responsibilities are confirmed in the quotation.
